Robert was born on November 9, 1964 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Robbie's family was always on the move, but settled down in Atlanta, Georgia after a few years. It was here that Robbie got his first taste of acting as he stared in a small production of "The Wizard of Oz" at the age of twelve as a munchkin. Ever since then he spent most of his adolescence performing in local community theaters and on PBS.
This won him the role in the
Burt Reynolds movie "Sharkey's Machine" He then completed High School and then moved to New York, where he got the role of "The Boy" in The Fantasticks. After this, he enrolled in the Julliard Conservatory where he spent two years studying the trade.

It was here at the Julliard, that he was cast as Charlie Brent on the Soap Opera "All My Children" where he spent three years (1985-1988), this part earned him a Daytime Emmy Nomination.

While doing this he also produced and
starred in Sam Shepard's "The Four-H Club" on off Broadway, as well as starring in the sci-fi film "Masters of the Universe"  He then left "All My Children" and starred in the Broadway hit "Into the Woods" and also in the off Broadway play "Lucky Lapses" At the same time he also worked with his wife Carol together on their Real Play Production organization which they founded to aid inner city kids.

He then landed the role as Thomas Eugene Paris on Star Trek: Voyager. While acting on Voyager, he also finished the production of "The Battery" in 1998, which he co-wrote, produced and directed. He continued directing and has directed three parts of Voyager, his  directional debut was the Voyager episode "Sacred Ground" in 1996. He also directed one episode of Nickelodeon's show, The Journey of Allen Strange. Robert Duncan McNeil also known as Ensign Tom Paris on Star Trek Voyager.

The character Thomas Eugene Paris has grown up a lot during the five seasons and in season six, which some viewers now is a little over half way trough his character is still expanding. It is my personal opinion that without his character a lot of the best parts wouldn't have reached that particular peak that it reached.
